Dr. Hamilton has been teaching for 35+ years and still loves her career, subject matter, and students. She has taught English on all levels (regular, honors, AP) to students from grades 6 - 12. She added AP Capstone (a two-year research based program) to her teaching repertoire the first year College Board opened it to schools around the globe. 

She will be teaching AP Capstone Seminar (4 sections) and AP Capstone Research (1 section) for the 2018 - 2019 school year. Dr. Hamilton also sponsors several clubs, including Hands across Campus, which hosts the Heritage Assembly each year.  Other clubs include (have included) The Harry Potter Club, Guidance for Young Ladies, Students for Gun Control, and many others.

Dr. Hamilton's academic background includes 
     * a BA in English & History from Texas Lutheran University,
     * an ME in Guidance & Counseling from the Univ. of TX Pan American,
     * an Ed Specialist In Curriculum & Instruction from Florida Atlantic Univ., 
     * and a PhD in Multicultural Education & Literature from Florida Atlantic Univ.

She has also had training in multiple areas, including Summer Institutes at Exeter College, Oxford University and the Univ of Edinburgh. She has also attended and presented at many conferences; the most notable was at Trinity College in Dublin at the Association of Ubiquitous and Collaborative Educators international (AUCEi). She presented her dissertation: Multicultural Education and High School English Teachers: A Teacher Awareness Study. Included in her presentations are several for the school district concerning subject area topics and multicultural education.

Dr. Hamilton also has two sons. They are both Suncoast grads (2003 & 2011), so she has the perspective of a Suncoast teacher and parent. This gives her a wonderful understanding of the work load and high expectations students experience in the classroom and at home.
